(#543) How She Scaled from Solo Practice to 13 Clinicians in 2 Years | Group Practice Owner Interview
Get on the Dope Therapist Academy Waitlist
In this Where Are They Now? Interview, Doctor TK sits down with Teresa Protasio, LICSW, to talk about scaling from a solo practice to a thriving group practice in just two years. Teresa shares the systems she had to build in her solo practice first, what she learned about leadership, payroll, and hiring, and how intentional delegation created the capacity to scale sustainably. If you're a therapist thinking about growing beyond one-on-one work, this conversation is for you.
Meet Our Guest: Teresa Protasio, LICSW is the Founder and CEO of Be Heard Psychotherapy, a Boston-based group practice focused on accessible, trauma-informed mental health care. Before starting her own practice, Teresa spent over a decade working across the mental health system — including in-home therapy, crisis intervention, community health centers, and private practice. Through those experiences, she saw how often both clients and clinicians struggled within systems that didn't fully support either. Unable to find a place that truly cared for both clinicians and the people they serve, Teresa decided to build it herself. In 2022, she founded Be Heard Psychotherapy with the mission of creating a practice where high-quality care and clinician wellbeing go hand in hand. What started as a solo practice has grown into a team of 12 clinicians and an administrative staff member, serving individuals, adolescents, and couples across Massachusetts.
